Surrogate muscle testing for babies and toddlers
I can help babies and children under the age of 5years old through surrogacy, whereby the parent or Guardian holds the child and the muscle test is done on the adult.
Over the age of 5years old I can do the muscle test on the child.
How can kinesiology help children?
Kinesiology can be of huge benefit to children and young people- giving them a space to discuss feelings and emotions.
Sessions can help with learning difficulties, dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism and ADHD. For example by doing Brain Gym movements and exercises to incorporate left and right side of the brain. Practising emotional regulation strategies to children and families can be of huge benefit.
Retained Primitive Reflexes
Primary reflexes are automatic stereotyped movements, directed by the brain stem to assist survival in utero and the first weeks and months of life. All of the primary reflexes should be integrated by the age of 2years old.
However in a lot of children and adults the primary reflexes are retained. This is caused by no fault of the care giver or child. People with retained reflexes often adopt strategies to cope (compensatory behaviours). This can causes difficulties in perception, motion, sensory processing. Identifying which reflex is retained and working on that through simple exercises in clinic and at home can be of tremendous benefit.
